Please sign the letter to let the City Council and Mayor of Pascagoula know that you want to prioritize Pascagoula.
Urge them to withdraw this annexation plan from the court and focus on repairing current infrastructure, strengthening community ties, and restoring public trust through transparent governance.
The City of Pascagoula faces several infrastructure issues that should be addressed instead of taking on additional areas that it cannot afford to maintain.
- Current infrastructure in the City of Pascagoula is in desperate need of improvement.
- There are a host of issues the city is not addressing within the city limits, including an aging water treatment system – resulting in weekly boil water advisories – street flooding, roadway disrepair, and more.
- The City of Pascagoula says annexation is needed for growth, but census data shows the city’s population is actually smaller now than it was during the last annexation attempt in 2010.
- The city claims the proposed annexation will generate excess revenue, yet ongoing neglect of existing infrastructure raises serious questions about its ability to maintain an additional 25.2 square miles.
- The proposed annexation would divert at least $8 million in revenue from Jackson County, undermining the very partner that funds many of the city’s most important projects.
